Being on Top of Writing

I wonder when I fell off the top of being on top of things and why I didn’t bruise. Probably because I wasn’t really on top.

Spontaneously hiking to the top of a mountain in North Carolina was 100% being on top of things. I didn’t plan on climbing a mountain but happened to have a pair of hiking boots in the car. I worked damn hard those 12 miles.

I thought about writing a book, sure. That’s so easy. It’s why I protected my stories. Writers asked me for my stories and I wouldn’t share. Like a bratty kid I said, “They’re my stories.”

I didn’t plan on writing a book but I just so happen to have my stories. And I’m working damn hard looking for the summit.
